Karuna Hospice Services is a specialist, community-based
palliative care organisation in Brisbane North.

Our team supports people living with terminal illness in their homes for as long as possible.

We also support carers and family members by assisting them with service navigation, grief and bereavement
counselling and spiritual care and guidance, no matter the religious or spiritual denomination.

Karuna is an inclusive not-for-profit organisation and accepts referrals from a number of sources.

A vision rooted in compassion

At Karuna, we imagine a world where talking about dying isn’t something to fear or avoid, but something we can do openly, with honesty and care. A world where people feel supported to plan ahead and face the end of life with calm and confidence. Because we know that grief doesn’t play favourites, it touches every life, every identity, every chapter of the human story.

That’s why Karuna exists.

Not just to provide care, but to offer meaning, presence, and community.

To ensure that no one has to walk through grief or loss alone.

Sundown

The sun on the horizon signifies a sunset making a peaceful end, and a sunrise represents a new beginning. In Buddhism, the end of one life journey is simply the beginning of another.

Circle of Life

The circular form of the logo reflects the cyclical nature of life, while its irregular shape reminds us that life’s imperfections are part of its beauty.

Yin And Yang

The Yin and Yang elements of this symbol represent the interconnectedness of the opposing forces. Death is a natural balance to life, and loss and renewal are inseparable parts of existence.

Whilst there is no charge for Karuna’s service, with limited government funding it is only with the help of our generous donors that we are able to ensure our service can continue.
